What does Neuroaffirmative mean?
Neuroaffirmative coaching is about recognising, respecting, and working with the natural strengths and challenges of neurodivergent individuals—without trying to "fix" or change who they are. In my coaching, this means meeting each person where they are, validating their experiences, and providing practical, science-backed strategies that align with how their brain works. It’s about reducing shame, fostering self-acceptance, and building confidence in executive function, emotional regulation, and self-advocacy. Whether through tailored study techniques, emotional support, or advocacy skills, my approach is rooted in realistic optimism—helping clients navigate challenges in a way that feels empowering, sustainable, and truly their own.
Where are you based?
I see children and young people in my garden classroom in Risinghurst, Oxford, UK and adults at The Practice Rooms in Summertown, Oxford, UK. I can also work online with anyone, anywhere.
Why "What Went Well"?
"What Went Well" is a simple but powerful reflection tool often used in education to help students recognize progress, build confidence, and develop a growth mindset. I chose this name because focusing on strengths—no matter how small—can create real momentum for learning and self-development. Whether it’s a student discovering a study method that works, a parent finding the right support, or a family improving communication, noticing what’s going well helps lay the foundation for lasting growth. What went well for you today?
What is realistic optimism?
Realistic optimism is the belief that while challenges are real, growth is possible with the right strategies and support. It blends practical problem-solving with a positive, science-backed approach, making meaningful progress achievable.
