Family support

Supporting a neurodivergent child or teen is a journey that affects the whole family. Understanding their unique needs, navigating school systems, and finding the right resources can feel overwhelming.

I provide practical guidance, emotional support, and tailored strategies to help families create a more understanding and supportive environment.

Whether it’s coaching parents, supporting siblings, or signposting to additional services, my goal is to empower families with the tools and knowledge they need.

My work with parents

Parenting a neurodivergent child comes with unique joys and challenges. I help parents understand their child’s needs, build effective strategies, and support their own well-being along the way.

  • Demystifying neurodivergence – Learn how ADHD, autism, and executive function impact daily life.

  • Practical strategies for home and school – Support with routines, transitions, and emotional regulation.

  • Parent well-being – Managing advocacy stress, reducing burnout, and practicing self-care.

My work with siblings

Siblings of neurodivergent children may experience a mix of emotions and need support in understanding, communication, and connection within the family.

  • Explaining neurodivergence in an age-appropriate way – Helping siblings understand and accept differences.

  • Encouraging positive relationships – Building empathy, patience, and strong communication skills.

  • Recognising their own needs – Creating space for their feelings and experiences.

Signposting

Finding the right external support can be life-changing. I help families access specialist services, school accommodations, and neurodivergent-friendly resources to ensure they get the help they need.

  • School and education support – Guidance on EHCPs, IEPs, and school advocacy.

  • Specialist referrals – Help finding assessments, therapy, and additional interventions.

  • Parent and peer networks – Connecting families with support groups, charities, and helpful online resources.

This family-focused, neuroaffirmative approach ensures that everyone gets the support they need—so your whole family can thrive.

Katy has been invaluable in helping me to better manage my son's ADHD and support him adequately. Each session is filled with actionable strategies that I know how to implement, and I see results immediately. I mean, IMMEDIATELY. She's also kind, compassionate, and pragmatic. My son is not the only one benefiting from my sessions with Katy, I do too, immensely, because she absolutely gets what it's like to parent neurodivergent children and holds my hand through it!

Last year we had multiple parent sessions with Katy to help us manage our interactions with school and our child better. Speaking to her helped us understand what we really wanted and we all worked together to make and carry out a plan. Her ideas for 'ND due diligence' have been game changing.

I've had several parent sessions with Katy over the last year,  and one as a whole family. Each time we've come we felt safe to share our experience and she really helped us with explaining to our other children why fairness looks different for everyone. The support and ideas we got from Katy has made home life easier and more straightforward.
